UHY WKH Partnership is an established accountancy firm with three offices and over 60 staff based in the North Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire area. We provide business solutions to clients throughout Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, London and beyond.
We provide a range of services, such as audit and assurance, corporate finance, personal and business tax compliance and planning, outsourced payroll and bookkeeping, financial planning, and business rescue and recovery.
We are proud to be a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and were one of the first accountants in the UK to gain a Gold Award from Investors in People, which we still retain. We work to the highest professional and ethical standards, whilst always seeking original and creative solutions.
We are not authorised under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 but we are able in certain circumstances to offer a limited range of investment services to clients because we are members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. We can provide these investment services if they are an incidental part of the professional services we have been engaged to provide.
Corporate History
UHY WKH Partnership has a proud history of serving businesses in the local area and across the country, stretching back over 150 years. It is the modern product of two long established North Hertfordshire firms, Wickham, Hunt & Co and Watts Knowles, who combined in 2001 as WKH Chartered Accountants.
Wickham, Hunt & Co was originally formed in the City of London in 1862, operating from Finsbury Square until the blitz of 1940 destroyed the firm’s offices and prompted a move to North Hertfordshire, with a variety of offices in and around Hitchin. Chris Maylin and John Sheehan are the two remaining partners from Wickham Hunt & Co now with UHY WKH Partnership.
Watts Knowles was founded in 1903 as a sole practice, but by 1920 J C Knowles had joined W H Watts in partnership. The firm relied mainly on its Letchworth office until the early 1960′s when it expanded into Royston. The UHY WKH Partnership partners from Watts Knowles are David Smyth, Peter Woodhall, Tim Maris and Paul Marsden.
Since joining forces in 2001, the firm has continued to go from strength to strength and in 2009 Stuart Hutchison and James Price, who had both been with the firm for over 5 years, joined the partners already representing WKH.
In 2012 WKH joined the UHY Hacker Young network of independent partnerships, becoming known as UHY WKH Partnership in the process, meaning that our clients can benefit from the knowledge and experience that comes from being part of a global network.
